Over 250 million people worldwide are suffering from vision problems. Many of which could potentially lead to blindness. Blindness takes away a person's independence, economic opportunity and capability of earning an income for the family. Over 90% of the blind population live in underdeveloped countries. Proper medical care for eyes is crucial in terms of preventing blindness. It is an expensive resource. That is why at Vision Rescue Foundation, we work tirelessly to unite companies, health care professionals to provide the help people need.
Vision Rescue is a complete student-run and registered non-profit organization that is devoted to providing better optometry care of these in need. We founded in 2015 in Vancouver with that idea in mind. To date, we have already assisted 350 children with medicinal supplement, and over 900 medical eye patches were given out. We have expanded our operations to both Pakistan (Vision Rescue Pakistan) and China (Vision Rescue China) along with the support from local teenage volunteers. Currently, we are continuing our work with a project of providing vision care to children in rural areas.
We know this sounds small, but this is the start of something great. We sincerely hope that we can help more and more people in need around the world as we strengthen ourselves.
